I am ready to mount a fiberglass Hemi hood scoop to the steel hood off of my 67 Belvedere. Does anyone know the spacing between the back of the hood and the scoop?

depending on size...my Superstock hood was about 4.5 inches from the back of the hood to back of scoop base...and centered

I want the scoop to be in the correct factory position if possible.

Hi,
when I put mine on I got a Glasstek one cause it has the reverse lip on the bottom like the steel factory one so you can use the slid on clips and bolts from the bottom up, if you look at the bracing on the bottom of the hood at the rear the factory has flat recesses in the braces, I used those for putting the rear holes in the hood and the scoop ended up being about a 1/2in from the rear of the hood. Also later when I put a small brace in the scoop opening in the center, when I drilled the hole there was and extra stiffner in my hood right in that spot, so I must have the scoop in the correct spot. I can take some close up pic's of the under side if you need them.

If you are using a factory style 67 Hemi Scoop the correct location for the rear edge of the scoop is nearly flush with the back edge of the hood. I say "nearly" because it varied a bit from one car to the next, most cars I've seen were 1/8" to a 1/4" tops from the rear edge.

65 scoops were different in shape but the application was similar, this is a rare look at an original, never removed, still in original paint (yes it's a factory A990 65 Hemi car in Petty Blue). The sealant around the base is body caulking/seam sealer and it's original as well.

I looked at mine in the back and it looks like the white car Scott posted. mine is just under a 1/4in. I thought it was more , I screwed up. Scott would know , he's the man!
