Does anybody make a ball & cup pushrod length checker and know the approximate length for a 440 with Victor heads on standard deck height and off the shelf .600 lift comp cam?

Victor heads are tall. You'll probably be 9.5 inches or even more. Also depends on the lifter because roller lifters are longer than flat tappets.

Trend makes the checker and pushrods for Comp Cams. Order the Comp Cams checker, then call Trend and tell them what you want based on the Comp Cams tool. You'll get exactly what you need.

get an old pushrod off someone cut it somewhere in the center (shorten as needed) drill and tap it for a 1/4 28 thread. use a piece of 1/4 28 all thread or similar in between the two pieces with jamb nuts. they normally want to know the effective length so you need to drop a 5/16 ball in the cup, measure it with calipers then subtract 5/16 from the length you measured, this is the effective length.

Thank you, that a great idea. I have a old pushrod that I can do that with.

Thats exactly how I made mine ( made both a ball & ball and a ball & cup ). Once I got the length I needed, I just sent my home made checker to my push rod supplier and told them to send it back with 16 more the same length.
