I recieved a free oil change card / coolant flush from my local dealer! Normally I change my own oil & filters on my truck but it was still below zero here in North Dakota back in March! I drove it home and a week later I noticed oil on the ground as the snow started to melt. I looked under and thought it was leaking from the pan, a gasket I would change later. After all the wife drives the truck 1 mile to work each day. Tonight I pull the dipstick and notice that they filled it about 8-10 inches above the safe mark! All my fault I should have checked it before! I have video and pics to present to them. What damage could be done? I estimate it to have been driven less than 150 miles since they worked on it...Thanks! TC

I doubt any damage. What year truck? You may have diesel fuel in the oil and not an over fill. 2 months after the change I would not be to quick to blame the dealer.

2001 diesel....the dealer was the last to work on it. Quick to blame the dealer??? Not "blaming" anyone, just want to know if the overfilling may have caused the leak I can't find or is it just coming out the crankcase breather....that I don't see either. Thanks! TC

I would change it to be safe and refill it to the proper level. Clean the underneath and watch it for a while to see what happens. I also would check to see if its diluted with diesel fuel. Leaky injection pump or injector crossover tubes could cause diesel to get in the crankcase.

Thankyou for your replys! I planned on changing and refilling but did not know about the possible injector problem? Thankyou for your replys! TC

I've seen diesel engines "make oil" several times. I'm not familiar with your engine but like the above post says it's certainly possible. -Bob
