There was a problem with the clocks in that lane.

really it's easy to do, have you ever sat in a funny car? not the best view. I staged once with the rear tires of a freaking dragster I was testing one time. I could hardly see the front tires the way the seat was set.

Im guessing he didn't Stage with the back tires, but the clocks timed out & didn't start until the back tires crossed the beams (????)
