I have followed this post for quite a while. I have really enjoyed reading about your experiences with your GTX. That car is really neat and I'm so glad to see someone really enjoying their hemi car the way the designers and engineers envisioned these cars being used. They were never designed to static objects of art. They were built to show Chrysler's engineering dominance. You have soul-mate out west. I love beating on my 68 Hemi Charger. It is an original hemi 4-speed car that ,like yours, was purchased as a rolling body only. Keep on stompin' that elephant buddy!!!

2JcodeChargers, I like your '68! Did you have it advertised for sale a few months ago? I think that was the car that I saw. Would you be interested in trading cars?

A friend and I took the GTX on a nice 8 hour round trip on Sunday. It rained nearly the entire way. Oh well. The Hemi ran great and I have no idea what I got for gas mileage. I really didn't care.

Stan, I love this post and commend you for building and actually driving a real Hemi car. Sad that some folks will be at the old age home before they realize they had a cool car and failed to really enjoy it.

Thanks for the comments everyone! As you all know, I love driving this car! I had to attend two weeks of training up at the Coast Guard Academy in beautiful New London, CT so I decided to take the Hemi on a road trip. I pointed the car north and kept putting gas in it. 9 1/2 hours later and I made it! Here it is parked in front of the Academy.

You are going the wrong direction, I thought you were going drop it off at my place. Very nice looking ride and very cool that you are using it.

The weather up here in New England is GREAT! I went to a very cool cruise night in Pomfret, CT tonight. Lots of very cool cars. Quote:
Looks AWESOME! What brand of paint did you use? Is it base/clear or single stage? That's the color I want to paint my convertible.
The paint is PPG and the color code is QQ1. Base/clear. I like it alot.
Superfreak, give me some time and I might just make it out there!

One of my favorite cars on here. If you lived closer we could both take out our original Hemi cars and street race them. Not many of us hard core Hemi driver type guys left.
Sheldon
then you would do well around here! herb, (scatpk) and i drive our cars a LOT! and they get driven like hemi cars should! neither of ours are original cars, but they both turn heads, (especially herb's), and get a lot of miles on them!

Small world... so you're the Bart Mans neighbor (he'd be the guy in the Camo's and funny red hat). I finally snapped. If he told you about a buddy with a Cuda...thats me
UCUDANT, Yup, Barron is my neighbor. He just retired and got a job at the Newport News Shipyard a few weeks ago. His son loves my car. I typically like to blast past his house with the car on my way to work in the morning.
I don't have much to report because I have just been driving the wheels off of this car. I think the harder I drive it, the better it runs! It's an ANIMAL!
So, my girlfriend has been talking about learning how to drive a manual transmission car. Yup. I taught her how to drive a manual today in my GTX with the 18 spline. She did well. She's not speed shifting yet but that will come later.
