I'm cleaning out the garage and ran across a pair of big block HP exhaust manifolds...L/S PN looks like: 2899879 with a date of 4-24-70...The R/S PN looks like 2843992-2 dated 5-28-67...I was curious about the applications of these as well as the positioning of the heat-riser on the R/S manifold...The weight wheel and t-stat spring face forward as opposed to the outer side...

2899879 is for 70-71 383 Hp and 440 Hp applications. 2843992 is 383 lp, 383 hp & 440 Hp applications 68-69.

70GTX440Dana do the later (71 up) BB HP ex manifolds flow as good as the much sought after gold standard 68-70 ones?

The 70-71 manifolds are the same. I cannot comment on 72 and later from a flow perspective. However the 72 & 73 HP manifolds that I have seen look nearly the same as the 70-71 style.

Thank you. yeah if the outlet is the same dia and the general shape the same then w the wall thickness in all likely hood being the same then they should flow prett darn close.

Can I steal this thread for moment with this question: Is there a separate exhaust maifold # for 67 383 4bbl, I have 67 383 2bbl 2532625 & 2532459 and looking at GG white book, they appear the same?..thanks
