abc440 OP member A Joined: May 2003 Posts: 143	In your opinion what mech. fuel pump is best for my setup? I have a 440, .030 over, 8-1 comp, 750 edel, performer intake, edel heads rpm, 284/484 cam, headers / 21/2 IN. EXHAUST. thanks

T Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 21,091 Niles , Ohio	After we got 4 bad Caeters new we went back to the Holley pumps.Run them on all the cars.My 440 is 12.5 compresson and has a 1050 Dominator and never runs out of fuel.My kids 413 and built 360 are the same.Rocky Chrysler Firepower

RapidRobert Circle Track R Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 36,041 Lincoln Nebraska	I'd suggest trying a parts store "airtex" brand & even w it's 5/16" ports it might be adequate and it'd sure be cheaper than an aftermarket Holley and there might be an app w 3/8" barb/female inverted flare fitting and I soldered in 3/8" fittings on a 5/16" airtex SB one. No starvation @ 6300 rpm live every 24 hour block of time like it's your last day on earth

DAYCLONA I Live Here Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 18,160 Mass	Carter street/strip pumps (mechanical) been running them for over 30 yrs, never 1 failure, the oldest one still in use is about 30 years old, the newest one is about 1-2 yrs old,.... can't say that for the Holley pumps that were given the chance to test their "performance",....failures

Been running one on the Hemi for a couple of years. So far so good.

T Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 21,091 Niles , Ohio	Well one Carter hipo for the 360 was junk from the box.Never pumped.One my kid put in the 413 lasted a week and the spring popped out and landed in the pan luckily it had no presure.The other 2 on my 440 lasted anout a month before they lost pressure.All were hi po pumps.My kid installed my old Holley that I bought in the 70s and it worked better tham the new Carters.Returned the Carters and run Holleys only.Never any problems with them.Rocky Chrysler Firepower
