They are talking about it over on Classracer. Apparently, he went some 10.40's yesterday, but they've had some trans issues with no high gear.

From what I'm getting the motor must be kind of trick, they are hush-hush as to who the builder is. Ditto the trans.

I think it may be kind of safe to assume that there is some Chrysler involvement with this particular effort. Just a guess.

There isn't necessarily anything trick about the engine. It's the same one that came with the car originally, and Jeff Taylor went through it. The guy "Drooze" is just very hard to understand over there on CR.com. They had a few trans issues and are just trying to figure out what it likes. Best so far is a mid 10.30 at almost 130MPH. Nothing secret, just another stocker

I was wondering....it is a stocker, there are limits as to just how trick anything can be. However, they are saying over there that Irv Johns has run 9.74 with his....that's pretty stout.

No Chrysler involvement there Steve, beyond the norm/the same stuff everyone else got. As said, it's another stocker.

I heard the car wouldn't launch straight, and wouldn't go into high gear....with their resources I'm sure they'll get it sorted out in no time though.

Far as I know Irv's is the fastest one out there so far, but with all the r&d going on who knows what others have got going on.

When I look back it's great to see 9's with a car folks mostly complained about...everyone said it was too heavy and would never work, most complained the prototype had leaf springs and other silly stuff that really didn't mean anything....with an engine alot of folks said would
"never run"...and from here they're only going to get faster. Cool stuff. It's been a fun program...tons of work....and it should be interesting to watch it grow in the coming years.

Well in my own way I was trying to be intentionally vauge.

First I didnt want to say something for certain about the BS3 system as the info shared with me by the Meaneys in NO way said that was Coughlins motor, I didnt want to get them hinked up with Coughlin because they never said and wouldnt whose motor they had sent me pics of their system on the day they got it running.

The second item was about the crossmember in Coughlins car and I was trying to be vauge about that as well, until there was an NHRA decision and resoulution.

I would have liked to do the same myself but was told by several it wasnt kosher.

But my ASSUMPTION was , yourself an established and respected builder, and Coughlin, well Coughlin, it HAD to be legal, there was no way it wasnt , otherwise it would have never been there.

But.....well my assumption was wrong.

Sometimes, actually a LOT of times I am intentionally hard to understand and vauge it allows people to read things into what I say and "fill in the blanks"

In many cases thats what I am after, not what I know but rather what they know.

Cheers

Chris
