Looking to build a budget 440 that will run on pump gas. Maybe 450-500 horse. Was thinking of using aluminum heads (Stealths) and saw these pro-comps on ebag (ported).

Stealths are $900 unported and will require another $60 for 10 degree retainers/locks. The pro-comps are ~$1250 for a set that are ported with a valve job with springs good for up to .600” lift.

What are the difference in these heads? Do they use the same headers, intakes, rockers, etc as stock? I believe the Stealths are Eddy knock-offs, are Pro-comps the same

Stealth's are sort of cross between a 906 iron head and a Eddie Performer.84 and 86 cc chamber available.Ported they flow slightly less than the Eddie's.

Pro comps are knock offs on the Eddie Victor cyl heads.Small chamber 72cc ? and issues with pushrod clearance esp with a low deck engine.More flow potential due to much larger port volumes than the Stealth's and Eddie performers. They require offset intake rockers.

Of the two the Stealths are best for your combo.

Two different cyl heads for two different purposes.

Thanks.

With this information I agree, Stealths are better suited for me.

Are you saying that PORTED Stealths flow less than UNPORTED Eddies?

The Procomps sound like they would have too many "hidden cost" for a budget build. (ie.. special rockers, pushrod clearance, maybe intake limitations if they have the raised ports like the Victors) If you can easily get 450-500hp with old iron heads, it shouldn't be an issue with the Stealths.

NO just slightly less than ported eddies.

The Stealths are pretty much a "bolt-on" replacement - using all stock components but still having better than stock ports and flow.
The Stealth springs are also rated for .600 lift but not with a roller and I doubt the Pro-comps are any better. I like the idea of the heli-coil inserts in all the Stealth threads. At your power level I wouldn't be too concerned about the retainers and 7 degree locks.

The Pro-comps take offset rockers, etc.. I would take the Stealths over the Pro-comps any day.
If I needed the power potential of the Pro-comps then I'd step up to Eddy's or Indy's. That's just my 2 cents. The CNC'd Stealths would be a nice step up for your application and can still use all stock components.

I have both the Stealths and the Pro Comps. Stealths would be better for your combo.

As for which flows more ported...might depend on who ports them, too....

As I type this I'm having issues with PROCOMP push rod clerance. I loged on to see If any one else is having the same problem. Looks as if the intake pushrod holes are straight and need to be slightly angled. Nice looking heads though.
