I need some thoughts.Is 10.5 too much comp.for street engine with cast iron heads? I do not have cam selected yet.Engine will be in 65 b-body.Thanks

You should be fine with 93 octane and a not too aggressive advance.

For optimum tuning, I would go 9.5 so that I could really fiddle with the timing. After all, it is a Hemi...

Mine with cast iron heads came in at 10.2 and detonation is a non-issue. I had to deck my block due to surface issues. I wish I would have decked my block more to up my compression to 10.5
I have only ever used 93 oct pump gas and it gets raced regularly in summer months [30-35 passes a year]
