How much do you have and what kind and weight of oil are you running? What kind of main bearings do you run (1/2, 3/4 or full groove)? Is it 1/4 mile only?
I don't think you could go wrong with .0020", taking into consideration the expansion of the rod.

That sounds about right, .030-.040 rods and 003-.035 on the mains. That's what I have, and I run 5-50 weight Torco synthetic oil.

I take it this is drag race only motor, if that is so the clearances you have are more than adequate with any weight oil unless your heating the oil and running zero wieght oil.

I was told, from a fellow, far far away ,
not mentioning any names , that it used to be a small block crank, but sat so long it rusted into Bolivian.
And that's why the hondazuki, or yamasaki rod size was needed.

Just messin' Jim, glad to see you are getting it together.

People tend to go too tight thinking alum will expand. You need to go looser, keep in mind the alum will expand in ALL directions. I agree with .003-.004.

are these the heavy duty pathfinder rodbearings? .003 to .004 is good.side clearance on the rods is also pretty important on alum. rods too . it helps keep oil temps down and that is what kills the rods.

Now that's some funny stuff there,
Jim, if you need anything, just call. I need to get up your way to see what's new anyway.

Ronnie if this weather every breaks you'll have to stop over. I saw the pictures of the inside of Colby's dart trunk on the other post it looks real good. You should post some pictures under members projects.

See ya , Jim
