Is this a daily driver or a toy? Start chopping weight, figure out what you don't need to go racing. Slants do like spark, upgrade your ignition. Look for super six stuff if you can find it.

They like boost!!

Not much cash? Just make sure the engine is in good tune (ignition system, timing...etc) and go racing. As mentioned earlier, get the weight out. It is like adding free horsepower (and cheap). Generally speaking 100lbs out = a 1mph increase and .1 decrease in ET for the 1/4. 100lbs out of a slant powered vehicle would probably see bigger gains.

Like said before, lose every bit of weight that you can afford to.

Look in the 'Articles' section on www.slantsix.org . Lots of good info there.

Slants will respond to the same things any other motor will. You just have to remember to be realistic with your expectations.

Biggest problem you will have racing a fairly stock Slant will be finding a sweet spot on the tree. I always had to leave in a spot somewhere between when the second yellow went off and the third came on. If I saw the third light on I was dead late.

Trust me, get lots of practice in and you can do very well racing a slow car.

Mine in the sig is a '74 Dart 4 door slant car. I can't wait for April when the tracks open.
