used rockers are typically in the $750 to $1500 depending on condition. Wide pad rockers are desireable if you are going with big cams and springs. There are a lot of parts that make up the rocker assy, simply buying new arms is only a start of the spending spree

I think the best, most foolproof way is to find a complete, used, original Chrysler setup. Thats what I run on my current 472 and all the other Hemi's I've run in the last 30 years. Just make sure the rocker pads are in good shape. There are better areas to spend more money on than high dollar aftermarket Hemi rockers.

There is no better place than on a hemi to invest in good roller rockers to correct the poor geometry and varying ratios the factory parts were known for. If you have a used set lying around, by all means throw them on and run them. If you have to buy rockers, you can buy a used set of stockers and have them rebuilt and your total investment will be the same as a good set of stage V rockers and stands. Buy a good set once and forget trying to revive the 40 year old rockers that weren't very good to begin with. Your valve guides will thank you.

" Why bother asking that question? By building a HEMI, your dollar per horsepower ratio is already sky high compared to other Mopar engine designs. "
Not so. If you want 700HP you can do it with a stock Hemi block, heads, rocker gear, etc. To do it with a Wedge you need an aftermarket block, heads, valvegear etc. The big Dollar Hemi myth is old. The aftermarket cranks, heads, blocks, rods and pistons are pretty much all the same $$$ Hemi or Wedge.

How much HP is that extra $1500 going to buy you?

As bad as those stock rockers are, it's an easy 20hp-30hp on a solid build. You could spend the extra $1500 on good rockers and enjoy the extra power that comes with it, or you can spend it on rebuilding the heads when those junkers kill the guides. It's a pay now or pay later deal. Either way, you'll spend the money. If you buy good rockers though, you'll only spend it once. I'll use whatever rockers my customer will pay for, but I make sure my opinion is heard.
