Hello,I am a new member here on Moparts.I was wondering if some of you could share some tips and info on restricting oil to the Indy heads.Right now I have a 1/4x20 set screw with a .080 hole in it instlled in the brass T that screws into the engine block.I am running the Indy 295cc EZ heads.I have the Hughes Engines 1.5 aluminum rockers and banana grooved shafts.I am running a solid flat tappet cam with the Hughes engines cool face EDM lifters. With 20W50 Brad Penn oil.I am ok I think with my oil pressure.Between 75 to 80psi under wide open throttle down track. After making a pass and get back to the pits, the oil temp at 160/170 degrees idling at 1400rpm it has 35 to 40 psi and if I pull it into gear with 800 to 900 rpm the pressure is 20 to 25psi.I noticed a little oil in my clear evacuation hose(header evac system)after making a pass.I have the Indy valve covers with the moroso bolt in baffle. Is this a sign I am still getting to much oil to heads with the .080 brass t restiction?or is it normal to see some oil in the evac hose? Thanks for any tips or advice.

depending on what type of baffle is in the valve cover the oil in the tube may be normal.
We made sure my baffles where positioned inbetween 2 sets of rockers and was closed off except at the top to keep down on oil in the tube.
I am running a restrictor in each line with a .060 hole and am still getting a lot of oil up top.
If you have 1 .080 feeding 2 lines I would think that is Ok.

Wow, that is some high oil temps from my experience. What oil temp did you have at the start of the run, and where are you measuring the oil temp?

I measure in the pan, and typically stage at 130 degrees oil temp and 160 water. Although oil may hit 150, before the next round it cools down faster than I would like. The only time oil temp goes up between rounds is several round-robin runs (10 mins between runs). Even after several, I have never seen 170 oil staging. Are you seeing high water temps too?

My oil temp in between rounds before starting burnout is usually 145 or less.(depending on how much time between rounds). If I have like 30 minutes in between passes to cool,it will be 140 or less when I pull out to start burnout.I try to pull out on track to start burnout at 140 water temp. This past Saturday it was 50 degrees outside at track.I would come back to pits after a pass with 160-165 water temp and 160-170 oil temp after 1/4 mile pass. Thanks
