I have put dimmer panel switches in ,as soon as i plug it in ,it smokes it ,everything was working fine last week ,i noticed i lost my dash lights and running lights , i checked fuses ,had a bad fuse on running lights ,replaced that ,running lights have been working fine ,but no dash lights ,started by taking dash dimmer light switch out ,noticed it had burned spring on reistat ,plug another one in ,it smoked it ,can,t figure out how to use my ohmn meter to see which wire is shorted out ,it has 3 plug ends ,according to manual diag ,2 wires come from light switch and feed into dash dimmer switch on power leg ,its hot ,i still have dome lights ignition key light ,map light ,the tan wire goes to fuse box ,the other two go to door dome light switch and a bulkhead plug end ,these are still working with dimmer switch unpluged ,car is 69 b body loaded with a/c ,surely someone had this similar problem ,electrical is my weak point thanks

Take off one of the batt cables as you want NO juice when using the ohmeter then start checking the wires/connectors to see which one has continuity to ground which is what is giving you the "dead short" that is smoking your stuff. www.mymopar.com has wiring diagrams so you can find the colors to be working on but reports that their diagrams can differ from oe on some circuits. Good luck.
