After you remove the clamp, how do you remove the plate where the glass is glued to? This is a passenger side chrome Ebody mirror. Do you just yank on it?

There should be two phillips head screws, one at each end, holding it in. Easiest way (if you want to call it that) to get to them is with a 90 degree screwdriver. You should be just able to squeeze one in the opening if you move the mirror plate all the way in on one side, then the other.
You may want to buy a cheap screwdriver and bend it to suit your needs.

So do you just grab that center pivot ball with visegrips and pull it out?

The "ball" part of the piece that is pressed into the mirror shell can be grabbed by a set of vice grips. Then pulled on or tapped on to drive the pressed in piece out (I'm assuming you ground the heads off the swegs that hold the flat metal on that goes over the ball part). Be careful not to damage the ball part to much. I just went through this for re-chroming my mirrors. When I put everything back together I drilled through the swege towers and put very small screws with locks and nuts in the back of the mirror plate (part that the mirror glues to). Worked very well. I can send you picks if you wish. Don't know if this works for everyone, but it did for me.
