OK so I am going to build a 505 rb motor. Really can't afford an aftermarket block. So I figured it's either aluminum mains or a girdle. This is going in a street/strip car. How streetable are aluminum mains? Also who's should I use? BCR's aren't available anymore. Thanks Jamey

Well I have built a few street/strip deals with aluminum caps and never had an issue. My Belvdere went mid 10's with a pump gas 451 and logged over 4500 street miles when I sold it. It is still going strong six years later.

Your only option now is Best Machine Koffels or 440 source.
Support the Moparts guys and buy from Best Machine for now.

No problems running them on the street. Lots of my customers do at least 20%

Thanks Greg, I tried to get some of yours, but I was too late. I was leaning towards Best Machine.

I have aluminum caps in my 505 street motor. It's going on four years with no problems so far.

6 years and over 18,000 miles on mine.
493 730hp.
So I would say they are reliable.

Several years ago I got a set for my 400 block from Scott Brown, Straightline Performance, who was also a board member here. I haven't seen anything out of hinm lately. Anyone know what/how he's doing?
