I have a little time capsule from the 70's...a complete small block with an 8 bolt crank..and what looks like a nice set of what must be Direct Connection connecting rods (very nicely finished)and Arias pistons all toped off with a nice ported set of X heads from Ron's Porting.
The engine has a roller cam in it with what looks like those old Crane bar & clip roller lifters in it...and the icing on the cake a mint set of fender well headers for a 65 Cuda..
Now back to my question...does anyone have a Early 70's Direct Connection catalog that might show the casting or part number for small block connecting rods?
Any help would be muchly appreceated...
Rob

the 514 rods were/are called small block hemi footprint rods due to the big end appearence looking like a hemi rod does. a very stout rod but heavy. i used them with a standard 340 crank and 12to 1 trw's with cut down domes and had to add mallory to the crank to balance it. this was a nascar rod.

Thanks Guys..!! there's no 7/16 bolts in these rods they look like old SPS bolts...
These rods are finished like a Pro billet I beam but they have a number running the length of the beam.
This engine might be some kinda short stroke deal.
When I knock it apart I'll post up some pictures and then the small block guys will have a better idea of what I have.

Thanks again...
