I'm thinking about trying the QuickFuel 4150, 1050cfm main body on my Holley HP 950. Not that I wouldn't mind a 1050 Dominator but the cost of changing to a 4500 series carb is prohibitive for me at the moment. To do it right, I'd need a new manifold, would want to get that ported, and my "stealth mode" , stock road runner air cleaner wouldn't fit. That's also approaching 2 grand for the cost of all that. So, for around $220 QuickFuel sells their 4150 series, 1050cfm main body. I'm going to try it and see what happens but I won't be able to make a run until the tracks open up in the Spring. I'm curious, has anyone else taken this path and if so, what kind of improvement or problems did you experience? Was it worth making the switch? Thanks

give them a call. I doubt it would make that much difference.

I ran one when they first came out, 2-3 years ago. It was still a tenth slower than the 8896-1 Dominator I took off....
No way that thing flows 1050cfm with those huge boosters down in the bores...
Ask them if you can get it in a down leg booster version.

At 100 CFM difference I doubt you would see much if any performance gain.
IMO I'd spend the 220.00 somewhere else with better results.

Sweet looking ride by the way

You could also consider putting the Proform 950 main body with your Holley 950HP baseplate, metering blocks, etc. The Holley 950HP venturi is smaller than the Proform.

67108C handles 950cfm carbs. 1.450 venturi x 1-3/4 baseplate

Jesse at BIGGS carb:
Proform 750.....1.375 X 1.720 (same as Holley 750 HP)
Proform 850.....1.400 X 1.750
Proform 950.....1.450 X 1.750 (Holley 950 HP...1.375 X 1.750)

I went from Proform 950 to a 1050 dominator and back to the 950. Then used a Proform 1050 4150 body on the 950. The dominator was by far the fastest. I did not see any difference between the 950 and the 1050 Proform.

Hey Jim,

Yep, that's what I'm thinking too. The QuickFuel 1050 IS the Proform 950 main body that's been CNC ported. It even says "Proform" on it. I did speak to QuickFuel and their tech guy and he said it really flows 1050cfm. So basically, it's a hogged out Proform main body. The QuickFuel tech told me that an HP 950 actually flows about 840cfm. He said it's a 750 main body on a 850 base plate - which is consistent with what I found out by digging around the Internet.

Thanks, that's good information. Did you every try a Holley HP 950 before the Proform 950?

Back when I ran an M1 single plane on a 451 in the low 10's it pretty much ran the same numbers with a 4150 950HP as it did when I switched to a 1050 Dominator and tuned it the same day, the Dommy was a hundredth quicker here and there so I stuck with it.

For $220 it may be worth a try since you don't want to change your intake and air cleaner. The 950HP sounded real crisp and snappy on the 451. You could be the test mule for this new main body.
Nice car by the way!

Test mule for their new body spells out "Free Test Part" to me. It is only good PR for them if you are one of the first to inquire about this ported real 1050 flow body. Of course they might want to send a tech guy out to meet you and make sure the thing is tuned and set on kill according to their specs.
Every body wins.
I understand your covert cover scheme. I could probably go a few or more tenths faster with a Dommy on the crest, but I like the look, stealth and reliability of the 4150 which in my case is flowing 1000 cfm as built by Bigs.

My car is 4260# with 493" eddy heads and m1 intake. Went to the track one day with my 950 quick fuel carb, made 2 passes at 11.41. Pulled the 950 and slapped on the 1050 4150 flange quick fuel. Made one pass with no tuning and went 11.19. Tranny fitting cracked ending the day before any tuning. Never would have believed that it would go that much faster, but that is what it did. Good luck!

never did try a Holley 950 HP. The Holley is:
# Venturii Size 1.376
# Throttle bore 1.750

The Proform 950 venturi is 1.450
