I was given a 69 RR that someone was going to turn into a race car. they cut out the inner fenders and that is as far as they got. When I got the car it had no hood with it and of course the Fender Tag is gone. the car was built at the Los Angeles plant and from what I have been told they did not put Build Sheets in the car at that plant.
So... I want to restore it back to as close to original as I can and would like to know what I need to look for as far as signs this was an air grabber car, where was the Air Grabber handle mounted and would there be specific holes in the dash or fire wall?
The car was originally A4 with Black interior and had the partially blacked out hood, I can see where the stripes started after I removed the windshield. The car had 3 repaints and under all the seals, gaskets and rear package tray and under everything else I removed it is A4 Platium silver.
The Vin say it was a 383 car RM23H9E and it is a 4 speed car, factory installed 4 speed hump and same black sealer around it as the rest of the seams. also has the orange reverse light on the dash.
It's a bench set car, no holes by the tunnel for the buckets to bolt down. the interior was pretty complete except both front and back seats where missing, it also has the shoulder harness's

Anyway back to the airgrabber, the hood was sold so if someone was converting their car to an air grabber they may have removed all the parts.

What other options where available on this car? would it be possible to verify options and have a fender tag made for it? I would like to have the tag for myself and NOT for resale this car will only be sold after I'm ten toes up

A nice clean "factory" Air Grabber control cable routing hole in the firewall (slightly on the passenger side) is the best indicator if no fender tag or broadcast sheet exists. I do not have a picture of the location handy, but can get one this weekend if none are posted...

Here is a thread on my A4 Road Runner, but the hole location is not visible...

Congrats John. Those A4 Road Runners are near and dear to me also. I have the exact same car with the V21 hood treatment. No air grabber though. Mine came from the Lynch Rd. plant. Nice find!

Here are some pictures from my photo archive... the extra line is for a mechanical oil pressure guage that I added "back in the day".

Great picture Dan! I was thinking left of the ash tray... between the ash tray and the steering column. I believe that the control "handle" (vent cable control with red "CARB AIR" placard) is hidden behind the FM Converter in this old picture...

Checked last night, no Air Grabeer cable hole in the firewall. Bummer it's not there but cool, I won't need to buy all those expensive parts.

Is there any way to tell what wheels and tires may have came on the car from the factory? Like if they were part of a decore package and if the car did not have said package you got steelies and hub caps

What part of S.E. Michigan you from?you can PM me that if you want, I'm up by Traverse City. This car was in the Flint area and was sold to a guy in Birch Run, then was sold to the guy in Saginaw and he is the guy who gave it to me when I bought his race car. The car is about 99% rust free with about a quarter size hole in the drivers side floor. I replaced the inner fenders last weekend, well got them tacked in anyway.
