Hey Guys,

I have a buddy restoring a 72 'Cuda and he is looking for a restoration manual. What is the title of the best one he should get?

Thanks !!

Factory Service Manual and detail photos of untouched original cars from same year & plant are best, and of course asking here. Also, check out the Hamtramck Historical site.
Based on his B-body "resto guide" I'd ignore anything from Paul Herd unless you can knowingly sift through the misinformation.

I would definately agree he needds a factory service manual. However, as far as restoration order and how to do it, I read a book call Project Charger that I thought was pretty good. It basically follows as one magazine writer guy restores a 70 Charger from start to finish. In areas it was a besic overview and in other areas it was detailed. Overall I enjoyed reading it and thought it was helpful.

I would cast my vote for MCC Detroit (Dave Wise).

If you use the ICCA judging manual and the bolting book for your particular application you can not go far wrong.

Bolts from RT Specialties or AMK.

Thanks fellas. He knows how to bolt them together, but he doesn't understand factory finishes, paint marks, etc. That's what he's after.

i bought that fastener manual when it first came out.

two things............

1 - don't live and breath by it. i found discrepancies in it while referencing my 72 challenger.

2 - it could make you go bonkers looking for the correct fasteners

I just bought that guide in November. I jumped right in and started looking for bolts without reading how the manual is set-up. Once I went back and figured out how to look up a paticular part, it is really quite easy.

I still havn't found a reference for the vapor separator tank fasteners in that manual though...

Snoopy who sells this book. I would like to have one as I am sure it would be helpful while I work on the challenger.
