You want 1/4" positive offset wheels. Take the wheel width, add 1" for the lips of the rim, divide by 2 and add 1/4". So if the wheel is 7" wide this is 4 1/4" backspacing. 8" wheel 4 3/4" backspacing. 10" wheel 5 3/4" backspacing. Your measurements are very close, but you want the wheel to be slightly closer to the spring than the body to avoid rubbing in corners. I have 17x9" wheels under my '67 Valiant and they just squeak in there with 255/40R17 tires.
Is this based on the wheelwell lips not being trimmed at all? If so, if I were to remove 1/4" from the wheel lip I could then go with a 5" BS wheel, correct?

I had Stockton Wheel make me a set of 15x7's with 4.75 inches of bs for my 73 Swinger, and have about a 1/2 inch of clearance from the sidewall of my tire to lip of the quarter panel as well as the spring using a 255-60-15 tire. That was the widest tire I could get under the car with out moving the springs inboard. Hope this helps, if not I can take a few pics if you need them.

I believe with 4-5/8" backspacing you'll have little or no clearance bewtween the tire & spring without wheel spacers or offset shackles. |What's your tire to leaf spring clearance right now|?
I am in the process of installing an offset shackle kit so clearance on the backside of the tire shouldn't be a problem.
