I dont recall what Bobs system costs, I think $1500 or so. I know he has it worked out pretty well though. With Alot of Work!!
But since you stated you dont have the bucs $$$.!
Even on the Cheap!,
Slapping a front steer Rack and Pinion in a stock K Frame is going to run you about $450 bucs with everythings thats needed.
Thats just for starters, Now you have to learn how to make it work.
That will include more Labor and more $$$ and if your as Dumb as me a few more Years mike

Jim ,I did it! But the Kmember is no longer stock. In the Stock Kmember you cant get the rack back far enough for the geometry to work well.
sorry but i beg to differ. zero bumpsteer & very positive steering on my junk. only drawback is you need to make a custom oil pan but that just meant i could improve on a stock std unit.
the original rack install was done by a pro who raced an A body in curcuit racing & he was in the top of his field. i just had too much time on my hands one day & made the hole bigger, but that meant i could build a bigger pan but not so deep.
with this pan i made i have zero oil problems. i have my oil warning light set on 30psi & it never comes on during a run.
He Stated Front Steer.
Your Rear Steer rack is fine.
He also stated Stock Kmember, witch yours is Far from mike
am i blind, or does that thing steer from the right side?

Stock K frame with the same setup...and yes, mine as his was RHD... A buddy of mine with a '68 Charger R/T with a Hemi in it is running the same setup, but using a power rack. Very common swap, been done in Oz for years using a Holden rack which gives no bump steer issues, etc.

My dad built a rack&pinion into his 68 Valiant with a stock K-member. Front steer, the rack is tucked up into the K-member a bit.

Your Dad knew what he was Doing!
With a Front steer the Rack has to be that far back As pictured to work right. A stock oil pan wont allow that.
So theres another mod that needs to be done $$$. It really cant be done properly on the Cheap $$$, More like $$$$.
Unless you can Fab all that stuff yourself, and dont count your own labor , then it will cost you only $500 bucs or so. mike
