Not sure if this helps any, but I found this space was tight and worked for me, it is not as close to the rear end as camera shows, just a thought.
I'm with Helmuth Hübener, and no soup is being served today.

mounting underneath the car is a big nono. it gets too much moisture and condensation under there and lifespan on fuel pumps are cut in half. water and debris are also factors creating problems with bearings and seals wearing out prematurlly. i switched my cars to all in the trunk and have had zero problems with them going bad.

No pictures now, deleted them two months ago off of the camera, sorry I just finished mounting a Magnafuel 300 with a 80 micron fuel filter with a shut off between the tank and the pumb and a 10 micorm filter just after the pump using a 10 AN female coupler and a 10 AN to 8 AN female reducer to hook up to the #8 AN hard line to the regulator in the front I hope you can picture that I mounted the pump horizontaly(SP?) to the right rear frame rail by swapping the stock Magnafuel mount so it mounted the pump that way and attached the bracket to the bottom of the frame rail with 3 5/16 self tapping bolts from a Holley mounting kit This is on a 1970 Cuda that I was installing a NOS Cheater sytem on at the same time. That was my first time installing a NOS system I ran the bypass to the OEM 3/8 pickup after having a 1/2 pipe to 8AN male nipple welded onto the OEM pickup, I had a stainless steel sump welded onto the bottom of the tank and fed the pump with a 10AN to the first filter. My Duster has a Magnafuel 300 pump also, I made another bracket to attatch the stock one to extend it down so it mounted the pump upright under the floor just far enough to clear the wires on the top of the pump by about one inch from the bottom of the trunk floor. I mounted both pumps as far back as I could so they would be gravity primed all the time, both pickups are in front of the pump and feed into the backs of the pumps under gravity I also mounted the electric relays less than a foot from the pumps inside the trunks IHTHs.

This may sound like a stupid question but does it affect the flow at all if the filter and pump are mounted upside down, like if they were in the trunk? I currently have it mounted underneath the car behind the tire. If I were to move the filter/pump into the trunk does the outlet from my fuel cell need to be above them? Right now they are about even.

Thanks everyone for the pictures and explainations. I never thought to mount it horizontal, and I have the same question , is it okay to mount it like this? Also Superstocker, I thought about mounting it in the trunk next to the cell but didn't want to use any 90 deg fittings. But you're running 9's so must not be any issue with delivery.
Thanks again for the idea's.
Jim, i like using -12AN to the pump from the cell. depending on how much fuel delivery you need, i'm going by cubic inches and HP, i'd only go as small as a -10AN to the pump, then from the pump up to the regulator -10AN or -8AN but no smaller,
