My uncle is wondering why you are not able to rev his engine (3.8L) past 2500-3000 RPM's when in Park, but runs fine down the road under full throttle?
He was trying to warm up the engine faster so it had heat when my aunt is ready to go.
Any ideas whether this is normal?

Normal. Built in rev limiter. Reving it won't warm it up any faster. Just drive it the temp will come up quickly.
