I know he was a outstanding Driver with many accomplishments in Pro Stock. I think he has a few Pro Stock records still, maybe most wins in a season etc, not real sure. I know That the Wayne County Boys were tough for sure...Seems i remeber a breakin at the garage where they vandalized and destryed the high dollar Pro Stock engines, I wasnt sure if anything was stolen or not. He is a local to my area, never had the chance to meet him, but I know people who know him...seems he is a good guy, he lives close to the two tracks we race at around here.....just wondering if he is still involved in racing at all. The all use to say that they cheated, but fact is they just couldnt run with these guys. And were sore loosers.

I really like Darrell, I talked to him a few times at the track when they came to Memphis, and one time while he was suspended I got to looking in the stands and there he was with the big lady that used to be his assistant or something. I told some other that was Darrell and they said no it ain't, so I went up and chatted with him.

I wish he would get back in a car, pretty cool cat in the car.

Talk was cheap, seeing is believing. And, no one ever gave us any proof to see. So, as far as I'm concerned, they weren't cheating. I guess I must have some Missouri relatives. Show me.

I know I am gonna catch a lot of heat for this but I just have to say I have no respect for anyone who has to plead guilty to federal drug charges. Cheater or not that shows a serious lack of character in my book and don't care if he ever makes it back to the show. He had it all going his way and threw it away over dope.

Cheating was the rumor, as well as the breakin was set up too.

I met both Darryl and Scott some years ago and both were cool as heck to me, Hell they asked me over the ropes at Gateway and gave me the inside tour of the hauler and I got to sit in Scotts car

Class act guys if you ask me.

Was there ever proof? Didnt they tear the cars apart multiple times and find nothing?

Any mention of NHRA Pro Stock naturally brings up the subject of the Wayne County Team MoPar Dodge teams. After several years of front running performances, including three Pro Stock championships for Darrell Alderman (1990, 1991, 1994) both Alderman and teammate Scott Geoffrion vanished from the Pro Stock scene in May, 1995 when vandals allegedly broke into the Wayne County Speed Shop and destroyed six racing engines. Since that time, there has been one excuse after another as to why the Dodges haven't returned to competition.Supposedly, after moving to a new type of cylinder block, the engine builders haven't been able to come up with a competitive combination. Rather than being non-competitive, they've decided to abstain from racing.The rumor mill has it that the Dodge teams were caught running nitrous oxide and given a one-year suspension. Rather than embarrassing the teams' primary sponsor (Chrysler Corporation) both cars were simply withdrawn from competition voluntarily. At first, that theory seemed preposterous, but as time goes by, and the "Dodge Boys" continue to sit on the side lines, you have to wonder. Alderman won three of the first four races in 1995, Geoffrion won the fourth. With a string of victories like that, the Dodge teams obviously had a winning combination. With all that's at stake, the obvious move would be to return to the original engine combination, start winning races again and put an end to the speculation. Why hasn't this been done?Could it be that nitrous oxide was in fact being used?The whole situation is bizarre. More than a few people have put forth the opinion that the break-in is a complete sham. According to some observers, the vandalized engines shown in photographs in various publications don't seem to look like competitive Pro Stock engines. rumor was back in the day that they staged the entire deal to get out of being caught. What is so strange is that they never recovered from it. They never dominated again. It seems to me that anyone who builds engines would keep numbers and setups stored away. They should have been able to start with nothing and be right back to where they were befor eth ebreakin.

As far as Darrell goes... Onc ehe went to the slammer and serverd his suspension he was never as good again. I guess the nose candy helped him allot with his reaction times.

Him and Scott both where good huys to talk to and hang out with.. I met them a fwe time sin Atlanta. It is a shame that when people to seem to have everything they throw it all away..

pretty cool thing about that Super Stock Magazine is that it was/ is published a few miles away from me in the heart of Alexandria VA. atleast my dads friend said that it was back in the 60's and 70's.

Darrell has nothing to do with racing anymore. He is busy running his construction company with his son Chase. I am good friends with his daughter Dara.
