... for X / J Heads. I read on some internet articles that I can use these instead of installing bushings to cure my side play probs. My problem now is that I can't find a (internet-) shop to buy them. That's the question, I need a source who offers valves with different stem diameters....

You realize that you are still gonna have to have the guides machined for the over-sized stems right?? - or try and ream them to size yourself - you will need to by the appropriate reamer. The guides don't wear out the same amount in all areas. They "bell" out at the top and the bottom and in an oval pattern. If the valve stems mike good and there is plenty of margin left for refacing them you are better off just having the guides rebushed. If the valves are worn out also, you are still better off buying stock size valves and having the guides rebushed - IMO.

They used to be available in overized valve stems but don't know if they stil are. But the guides till have to be reamed to size.

I'd rather stuff some new guides in it than putting even fatter stemmed valves in it. Did you consider knurling?

If your valves are in good shape.
Your most economical approach would be putting some "guide liners" in there.
Your guide is opened up approx. .060" then the liner is pressed in and broached to size.
Bronze guide liners are .030" thick and will allow you to use your current valves with the proper clearence.
This process has been sucessfuly used in engine rebuilding for years. If done properly it will last for years also.

I would only do this for a "street" rebuild not a "race" motor.

Just my

Many years ago I had this done on some 273 heads. My problem was that both the guides and valve stems were worn out, so I had to buy valves anyway. It was much cheaper to have the guides opened up than it was to put guides in.

Check w/ Dan Dvorak at Dvorak Machine. You should be able to Google the name for their web site.

Even heavier valves? I'd get some +.100" long, small chevy valves and get .500" od guides installed for the smaller 11/32" stem. New retainers, springs and keepers and away you go. That's just my
