Mine are the same also.
My brothers car had the thin Direct Connection ones and after years of abuse the holes started to get out of round/sloppy. He had to weld plates on the sides to fix them.

3/16 is about perfect, not crazy heavy and plenty strong....Those will work. But weight is always a factor I consider. But you know you wont be bending them LOL
Nice work BTW

I suppose there is a point where you can call it "too strong" but I wouldn't worry about what you have there. I don't like building things "just" strong enough.

I had scraps laying around and I assumed they were 1/8ish not 3/16.Can tell I don't work with metal much and didn't pay attention in math class lol.
I thought they were kind of heavy so I found the MP ones and yup overkill

Looks good.

I'd be more concerned with a thinner junk box, aka MP parts, tearing up the holes than ever be concerned with the minimal weight difference of these over the weaker pieces.

5 lbs on the rear of the car, down low... big deal vs. the benefit. Better than haveing to redo the junk boxes over!

Ok , nice job of fabrication.
For those concerned about wallowing out the holes in 1/8", a welded steel 1/8" flat washers before using solves that issue.

And to the OP, a number of correctly positioned lightening holes would get the weight back down, and maybe look trick for the Moparts Wow crowd.

I do it like that intensionaly (sp) make the holes very long and then mount thick washers. then take to wheel alignment shop and adjust it then weld the washers to the boxes where its perfect.
