I finally cleared space in the garage for my 37 Plymouth PU and its now home and safe.

What I find amazing is how small the inside of these trucks really are and Im not a big person.

I hope to see if the thing will run after the first of the year.

Are you going to try to revive the CBF, or swap?
Any plans for that wood suspension?

A Ram 50 has more leg room and I think more hip room. The 37 should have more head room, depending on the seat.

What was the top speed on these things when new?

It has a 100mph speedo.

better have the clutch in too!
Here is allpar's 38 truck info
http://www.allpar.com/history/plymouth/1938.html
Standard axle ratio was 4.1

stock tire is 600-16 tire that is 28.3" tall
http://www.pickuptrucks.com/html/history/segment4.html

http://www.ringpinion.com/Calc_RPM.aspx
says that
4.1 ratio
28.3" height and
100 MPH
equals 4868 RPM.

That sounds a bit high for a stock flatty...

Some info I had on a 35 Dodge car stated the car could run 70 mph, but I suspect the old flathead wouldn't live long at that speed. I think the standard gear ratio of the cars was in the 3:90 range. I know the one I drove a couple times was pretty solid and smooth up through 60, but the engine sure seemed to be screaming. An OD would have made a huge difference. Gene

Back in the 57-59 era while I was in high school, I had a 52 Plymouth 4-Dr. pretty stock except the head had been milled for flatness. The speedo would waver between 100 and 105 WFO. Never knew the rear end ratio and I think 710-15 tires.

36/37 Dodge pickup. I'm 6'1" and sitting on a Honda Prelude seat that is resting (precariously) on the sheetmetal "base" that was in the truck from the original bench. Surprisingly comfy...for the 15 minutes I sat there dreaming it was actually running and driving.

It's not perfect.
It's not correct.
It's not yours!
