Am I going to be the first?

I have a 72 Rallye that I was going to make some patches for but the idea of blasting out some spot welds and welding a new panel on does have its appeal. My car has been media blasted and isn't real rusty but it took a shot to the area in front of the right rear wheel and will require ALOT of hammer and dolly work. The worst part is somebody allready "fixed it". Rust is limited to the very lowest part of the 1/4s,no big deal I've done that before.

I'm wondering if I should just get over it and fix what is there, or blast em off. If I cut them off and the new ones don't fit right I'll be tweaked. I've been the gunea pig for too much junk that doesn't fit before. I don't want to spend 1500 and fix the originals anyway

If the car was in worse shape there would be only one answer.

Anybody buy them and get them on yet?

While I have no need or interest in purchaseing the 71-2 Charger qtrs,...I have purchased a numerous amount of E and 2nd gen B body (the good years )shetmetal, ...full qtrs, fenders, hoods, valances, structual members, etc, etc, from AMD,...every piece has been as good as NOS, or better to work with, and install,....so pony up, do the car right, and cut the crap qtrs off, and go AMD, you won't be sorry

In my mind "doing the car right" means as much orig sheetmetal as possible. I hear what you are saying though. Years of buying repop junk made me this way.

I talked to someone at the 'Nats and they said they wanted to have them ready by the end of the year. I hope they are available and I hope they are really nice.

According to AMD the 71 & 72 quarters were in stock the week before thanksgiving....the rear valence w/tips was behind by a few weeks. The inner and outer wheel wells were also in stock. Also, AMD was moving to a new warehouse (business must be good)which was slowing orders down by a few days.

I placed my order w/Dante on black friday as it was 20% off all AMD stuff. There are several great AMD dealers willing to discount the products (thank you!!)and most large orders will just ship directly from AMD.

Currently, the rear valence is holding my order up, I wanted all of it to ship together on one pallet.

ordered:1 LH 71 qtr OEM, 1 LH outer wheel well & rear valence w/tips (awesome.

Also, at Carlisle I picked up the L & R inner fenders (looks nice).

I might also get the bottom rear patch for the RH qtr but won't know until I blast it.

I will be posting the progress of the my project in the near future to let others of 3rd gen chargers know whats avail and how well items fit & look. I'm shooting for 2011 total completion on a rotisserie restoration in a residential 1 1/2 car garage.

Good luck on your project.

Has anyone actually verified that they are available yet? I've been waiting 15 years for them, so I don't want to get my hopes up if its purely speculation.

At Moparts, the concensus is there is no consensus.
