Thinking about getting a set for my 383. The instructions state that the transmission linkage may need to be modified and also for a mini starter to be used. Anyone here have any experiences/opinions with these headers?

I have those on my 383 auto 66 coronet. they fit ok,I didnt have to bash em anywhere. I forget which side is close to the trans pan and #6 plug is close to the pipe.shift linkage clears easy but im column shift,so they are probably talking console shift linkage.hope this helps.

I ran them on my 63 440 savoy and 67 440 GTX. The GTX is a 4 speed and the Savoy has aftremarket t-flite race shifter. The directions mention alterations to automatic shift linkage, but it did not apply to my applications. Lightweight starter is the only way to go. The 78070 is a great header for the price.

as mentioned the headers are good for the price; if your car is steering column shift..get TTI's troque shaft assembly ($41.00) makes the install easy.

I really dont remember the part# on these 1-3/4 Hedman headers on the 440 in my 63 Sport Fury. They fit great with no mods at all but I do use a cable shifter and the mini starter. Ron
