Me 2. I take it from my wifes side of the closet - Shhhhhhh. NO, IT AINT SPRING YET!!
Same here, I just beat a thin flat spot into it parallel to the lines on the plate. Easier to bend the pointer than loosen the bolts and move the wheel (or pointer).

Coat hanger so I can just bend it and not move the wheel
I wouldn't mind having a dial indicator stand as shown. Getting mine positioned right is the hardest part of the job.
