Could someone point me toward something nicer than a bent piece of coat hanger that Comp Cams sells with their big aluminum degree wheel?

Your inbox is full, I tried to reply. Do they have a website, or do you have a P/N?

This is the only "tool" I found when I Googled the manufacturer.

Uhhh... that's all I ever use. Oh, and a bolt & washer to attach it to the block.

Another view showing the pointer as well as the tool that holds the dial indicator over the lifter bores.

I always use a tig rod. Never had an issue. Double and triple check always come up with the same numbers.

You don't need anything fancy to degree an engine...

Same here, I just beat a thin flat spot into it parallel to the lines on the plate. Easier to bend the pointer than loosen the bolts and move the wheel (or pointer).

Small block rigged up...my wife never has any extra hangers, and I can't afford a Tig!

Coat hanger so I can just bend it and not move the wheel

I wouldn't mind having a dial indicator stand as shown. Getting mine positioned right is the hardest part of the job.

I want my fair share

Dude, I was a machinist for years and worked to 2 tenths all day long. Coat hanger here too. Bend it all over and put it just where it needs to be in a matter of seconds.
