Well is it compelete from oil pan to carb?
I have found its best to est on the high end of the scale, that way if its a little more porky than thought, or extra stuff that wasnt accounted for...You dont get a suprise when you get a shipping bill.
Short story
I guessed one time to have a 727 torqueflite shiiped from here (KY) to Denver CO. I shipped through fedex, and guessed about $150-$175 would be more than enough to cover it. I built a crate and took it to the nearest Fedex terminal.
Yep It was near $300....
The gentleman whom purchased the engine payed what I told him to....
It wasnt his fault.
I sent a email with a copy of the correct invoice to him...No reply from him....After about two weeks he received the trans, I received a money order in the mail making up the diff.
It was a good feeling to know there still decent people in the world..
I cant remember his name, but if he is reading this...a big thank you...
The trans was a short tail shaft 727, that he was going to put in a FED chassis.
I would est about 600 lbs which will account for the weight of the crate and extra's.
