An axle flip alone will drop the rear the thickness of the axle plus the thickness of the spring pack. Since you are now gonna have the axle on top of the springs.
A longer shackle alone will drop the rear only HALF the difference of the stock shackle versus the longer shackle. A 4" longer shackle by itself will only drop the rear 2" since you are only dropping one end of the spring pack.
If you have a 4" longer shackle AND a 4" dropped front spring hanger then you would get 4" drop in the rear.

1975 Ramcharger 6" lift 35" Mud Terrains 8 lug 44 front, 60 rear. (R.I.P.)

On the hunt for another beauty to build.

Are the chassis tech spindles still availble on ebay, I can't seem to find them. And am I the only person that thinks $735 seems a bit high for a set of pocketed control arms? Maybe I'm missing something, but they don't look that hard to make. Should be able to modifiy a stock pair easy enough.

I lucked out big time on mine thanks to a member that I got them from. Yes Anything over $300 is high to me for them. Havent put them on anything yet and would like to run the Dakota sp and See where it sits Modifiing your stack ones will prove tuff IMO but you could make a Jig to build some from your stock ones

UPDATE on my 1985 Dodge D100 pickup.

Okay, did the front this weekend and ran into a few things.

Parts: 1996 Dakota drop spindles, 2" drop springs from Mid america customs, tie rod adjusting sleeves from a C body Moog part #ES440S 76 Newyorker adjusting sleeves.

Okay, I haven't read back through the posts so I'll cover what I ran into on my truck. 1)the brake caliper brackets had to be ground down about 1/8" to fit on the dakota spindles (I think this has been mentioned), the brake lines had to be bent to clear the nuts on the spindle, I know that has been mentioned. The Adjusting sleeves I ordered were shorter than the stock ones. I need about 1" longer than stock. I think Napa may have screwed up. Anybody have a measured length on the 76 new yorker sleeves? I'll try to get pics soon.

85 Ram 4 Speed post got me to wondering. So I did a little research. It looks like there was a tie rod change, both inner and outer in 79.According to my parts book( which I just noticed only goes up to 90) 72-78 inner and outer tie rods are 7.44" long.In 79 both inner and outer tie rods went to 5.16" long. Also the stud got larger in 79.But this shouldnt dicourage anyone, its just a matter of finding the correct tie rod and sleeve combo. This book is a awesome tool. If anyone needs help finding the right parts let me know.Or just go look it up at your local parts store.

Ahhhhh Looks like this might be my issue here. A 1985 truck, I guess I have the 5.16" long inner and outer tie rod ends. So I need to find 7.44 inch inner and outer tie rods that will work on my 85. Possibly just a 7.44 inch inner, that would give me about 1.5" inside the adjusting sleeve on both the inner and outer tie rod ends. Is that enough? Anyone know if a 77 inner tie rod will fit where a 85 inner tie rod was?

Okay, On a 1985 Dodge D100 with 2" drop springs and 96 dakota spindles(?) that the tie rod end comes in from the bottom the suspension geometry is off. I would be better off with the tie rod end coming in from the top, that would be perfect. Does anybody know what the angle of the ream I can use to do this?

A picture of the suspension with a 96 dakota drop spindle and 2" lowering springs from Mid America Customs. We are going to relocate the outer tie rod end to the top of the spindle arm for better suspension geometry.

What size is on it now. What is the distance from the center of the hub to the bottom of the wheel lip?

The rears are 255/60-15 the fronts are whatever the stock 15" tire is. I'll measure the distance for you.

My old 73 Clubcab Was 13" from hub to wheel lip and it road on the bumpstop brackets. Cut 1.5 coils and I ran 205/75r15 on it. Never got the chance to chorten the bumpstops before the motor blew. My buddy has it now but will be putting coils from a 85 2wd rc in it. I have some pocketed control arms and want to use the drop coil and spindles. I want my truck LOW

Awesome work! Im going to start collecting parts tonight for my 76 D200. Ill be incorporating them into my existing airride suspension. Has anyone went low enough that they have had to pie cut the upper control arm and roll the upper ball joint for better angle?

I dont believe anyone has and I want to get one of mine as low as possible. Ive considered moving the upper control arm upwards but than the steering is in the way. Also my idler arm was very close to the strutrod witch would just need moved up also. I need to find another clubcab. They look good slammed. SWEET TRUCK btw
