Dave Morgan’s 2009/2010 Tour and New Job
The 2009/2010 Seminar Season is about to begin, starting in Dallas/Forth Worth on December 5, 2009 and ending in Minot, ND on April 17 and 18, 2010.
Dates and locations are listed below.
After that, I will begin a new seasonal job as the track manager at Magic City International Dragway in Minot ND. The track operates from May to September and my winter seminar tours run from November to April. The president for the owner’s group took it upon himself to suggest a suspension school at the track. So you can see that I like these guys. They’ve got the right frame of mind for seeing the potential that I also see.
I have delayed sharing my schedule because some weekends remain stubbornly open. Now I can change some plans. Rather than schedule a seminar for my future open weekends, I’ll go to Minot and prepare for the racing season there.
This coming seminar season is something of a mix. In most places there will be the standard 11-hour (and often longer) presentation. And in many of these, there will be a Sunday Workshop. But in a couple of markets, Knoxville (possibly) and Louisville I’ll introduce a “Lite” Seminar. It’s aimed to be six hours long and focused simply on tuning… no chassis structure, no spring-rate calculations, only tuning issues. I’ll remain as long as there are questions, but those guys who just wanted a shorter day can get what they think they need and leave in time to have dinner at home. The price will be the same as the full seminar; $85.
To register, you can go online at www.davemorganseminars.com or call 567/242-9779 for my cell. I can take credit card information over the phone, if you’re queasy about computers.
There will not be any more seminars during the racing season. I have a good community of drag racers to go home to. MCID will be my primary focus during that time. We stop racing in September and have our banquet in October. So I’ll have time after September, to plan next winter’s seminar tour and worry about it then.
An interesting side note, as a track manager, I look forward to take advantage of my seminar tours, and meet as many fellow-IHRA operators as I can. I need a good mentor list right now and these are the best people I can think of for mining ideas and building programs.

Corner Weight Demonstration at Dave Morgan’s Seminar
A back-halved Mopar with stock front torsion bars springs will be available for a corner-weight demonstration at Dave Morgan’s Seminar, which will be held on December 5th. Additionally, Dennis Overholser, owner of Painless Wiring will personally be on-hand to give a tour of his factory, which is hosting the event.
“Say what you want about Chryslers,” Morgan said, “But having adjustable torsion bars will give us an opportunity to explain the difference in effects between using springs to change corner weights versus moving weight within the car. Torsion bars give us the same advantage as having coil-overs in the front suspension.
“Of course, we’ll all benefit from having Dennis there also. Not only is he the owner of Painless Wiring, but he is an accomplished writer, so he understands some of the problems a racer can run into when it comes to wiring a car.”
The entire seminar course outline can be found by going to Dave’s website www.davemorganseminars.com. You can register online or call him at 567/242-9779. His e-mail address is staaytuned@aol.com. The seminar will cost $85.
