Ramblebee, pic looks like your "scrub line" is illegal. Be very wary of getting as blowout or pulled over by a finicky officer.
Unless the laws have changed I dont think there is a scrub line requirement in Texas,(and they may have changed). The requirement is that headlights are 24"-54" from ground and taillamps 15"-72" from ground. We can get away with some seriously lifted trucks here too.Im an ex cop myself but this could have changed Ive been out for five years.

Not really anything to pass on.Im finished with the spindle swap.My truck had the "Dodge lean".It sat about a half inch lower on the driver side.I machined a 1/2" thick teflon spacer and placed it under the spring in the control arm pocket.Drove it a little today to settle everything and all is good. Guys if you are driving around with cut coils you should look into doing this.It drives awesome. Ive ordered a set of 390/40/17 m&h drag radials for the rear.Narrowing up a D60.These tires will be about 2" taller than what is on it now So its going to need to come down a little more in the rear. If anyone needs help with the spindle swap let me know.

ramblebee, how does it turn? do the front tires rub on the frame or anything else? is it noticeably quicker in ratio? awesome work! JP.

It does steer quicker, which I think is another benefit of the swap.I have not had any rubbing issues with tire to frame.I did have some rubbing on driver side inner fender before I fixed the lean. One thing to note with this swap is that there is no steering stop on the Dak spindle. But the end of strut rod (which contacts the steering stop on the stock spindle) contacts the caliper bracket with the Dak spindles. It makes for alot tighter turning radius.Ive kicked around the idea of fabbing up a steering stop to mount onto the lower control arm.But to be honest I dont know if its worth the time Ive had no tire to frame issues.Looks like I need to take a few more pics huh.

Do you have any worries about using a 17" wheel up front I have read that anything larger than a 15" or a different offset than factory will put stress on the Dak drop spindles and may cause them to fail.

Well Ive also heard that, but the R/T Dakotas have 17" wheels from the factory.I dont think they ever expected these spindles to be mounted on a 73 D100 either but they are now.And I doubt Dodge would ever advocate cutting the coils on thier trucks but its done all the time. There are alot of things we do as hot rodders that make the designers cringe but it hasnt stopped us yet.Ill take my chances for the benefit of better (and in my opinion safer) ride.

My spindles came in yesterday, but i have to finish the exaust first. According to what has been written, the only other thing i may need to do the swap on my '85 is tie rod sleeves.
Outcast Dodge guy.

I decided that I want to sell the Dak drop spindles that I got from Aim, I want to buy a set of Bell Tech's to replace them with. If anyone is interested I would price them right. I have only mocked up one side the other spindle has never been on a truck.
