Do you have a 5 pin ECU and Mopar brain plug AKA the ECU pentastar connector and 4 terminal ballast? If not I'd get a replacement 4 pin ECU at your parts house & someone here has them for cheap and a used pentastar connector from a yard or if no time to go there order a new one (or a used one from here) & a 2 terminal ballast From MP & wire it up with the archives diagrams & you'll be up & running in no time.

I'm a little confused here.
If the 440 distributor has 1 wire, then it has points.
If it has a two wire harness, than it is the electronic unit.
Maybe post a pic.
Does the 87 use a regular looking moapr Ecu?
I think the 87 has the Lean Burn type distributor which has two pickups/connectors and if I remember right there is no Mechanical advance inside the dist.
Since you have swapped it out for a single pickup distributor I would suggest you replace the wiring to the ECU & distributor. The harness is cheap enough and it would make sure you have a good setup. I am not sure how much difference there is in the wiring for the lean burn systems beyond the second pickup but that is definitely a biggie. Better to bypass it all and start fresh.

at the relay, connect the wire from the "run" pickup to the wire from the ECU, terminal 4. Tape off the remaining wires. you don't need the relay anymore.
