I have a 1969 (440 HP) block that I'm building into a 500 stroker. I already have the kit and have clearanced the block and drilled the oil galleries, etc... and ready to assemble the short block.

When looking for the right CAM I found the Voodoo 60332 SOLID ROLLER CAM with the following specs:
Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 273/279
Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 243/249
Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .578/.585
LSA/ICL: 110/106
Valve Lash (Int/Exh): 016/016
RPM Range: 2800-6800

But I want to use Hydraulic Roller Lifters... (NOT SOLID) and I cant find anyone that actually sells these and has them in stock.

Another option is to go with a Lunati Voodoo HYDRAULIC FLAT TAPPET Part# 60305 with the following specs:
Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 284/292
Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 242/252
Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .533/.552
LSA/ICL: 110/106
Valve Lash (Int/Exh): Hyd/Hyd
RPM Range: 2500-6600

At least with this cam I can buy the hydraulic lifters and go down the road without adjusting every few weeks.

QUESTION:
Since a stroker motor eats up a lot of CAM, will my Hyd cam above Part# 60305 be a little weak ?

Does anyone know where I can find hyd roller lifters so I can go with a Roller Cam ?

Any other cam suggestions for a 500 ci stroker that will be installed into a (4-Speed) 70 6-Pack Challenger used for street as well as 1/8 and 1/4 Weekend races ?

Note: This is a manual shift 4-Speed car.
500 ci stroker
11.1 compression
OEM Mopar Six Pack carbs
Headers

I want power and a good strong thump thump and I know that with a longer stroke...most cams designed for a 440 will not be as effective as they would with a factory stroke.

THanks
Mike

Apples to apples you need about 10 more degrees @.050 on a solid (which ~compensates for lash) to make a valid comparison.

I'd recommend you look at Bullet Hydraulic Roller cams, they are considerably more agressive that a lot of the other HR's. I run one in my 517" low deck, it revs REAL QUICK and pulls to 6800 so for me it does ALMOST everything a solid would do but without the proportionally higher over the nose spring rates.

for a assuming 10.5:1 (you didn't specify) 500 inch motor on the street, you want at least 248-253@.050 with a Hydraulic or 255-260 with a solid, it will still idle and drive very mildly, very much like a 230-235 cam in a 440. The lunati flat tap you call out is no slouch, I ran the older 30307 grind in a 451 low deck and it was pretty stout for a flat juice cam. You'd probably be all right with that one but I'd run something more like a 252/258 @.050 in one of my motors.

How many miles are you planning on driving a week?

I installed a Comp 292HR hyd roller in my 505. I should have it on the dyno in the near future and then we'll see how she does.

Yeah......what he said.......I adjust my valves every 3 to 4,000 miles, with some really aggressive solid rollers........

Personaly, I'd run the solid roller....... Hydraulic cams are for minivans......
