Is that a drastic difference for a 528 hemi that is going in a 11 second car?

The lighter piston will be easier on the crank and
rods but, performance gain won't be noticable.

The lighter piston should extend rpm some before rod failure and rev a little faster

that is 34 ounces off of the 8 pistons, that will require rebalancing the crankshaft assembly and it will require more weight to be removed on the counter balances I would do that in a heartbeat You may be pleseantly suprised with the results

Thats a bunch IMO. Just imagine what the rods, and crank goes through at 7K. They gotta stop that brick in the bore at TDC and then yank it back down, all in thousandth of a second.

Me and my machinist was talking about balancing my new Hemi engine, and the bob weight came up. He said that the heaviest thing still listed on his computer balancer still after 5-6 years was a factory Chrysler Hemi. LOL

It is a lot and will be noticable and feel like it has more power because it revs easier and yes that is like loosing the weight of more than one piston entirely and you will lose another 1/2 of that off the crank for a total of nearly 1500 grams. I built a 318 with light weight pistons and rods and it reved REALLY nice even with a smaller than stock 2bbl cam.
