I'm working on a 69 Barracuda. I found a funny bolt that came with the bag of bolts from the front end and engine compartment when I bought the car. It looks like a regular 1/4" x 3/4" body bolt with a captive washer but the bolt head has concentric circles and cross hair lines like a bulls eye and the washer is not copper but some kind of copper color in it that does not come off all way when I bead blast it? Anyone know if it is an OE bolt and where it goes?

I suggest you contact Tom Race at RT Specialties. If anyone knows Tom does.

sounds like one of the bolts that hold on my 68 rr grill, at least the head markings with the copper washer

I shoulda thought about that! It looks like a regular small body bolt except for the markings and the washer?

Me neither? It's the same size as the valence bolts.

The bolt head looks like number 216 in the Dave Wise reference manual for "B" bodies. Possibly contacting Dave at MMC- Detroit would help.

The web address is www.mmcdetroit.com or (248.393.3970

I've seen similar if not the same markings, on the underhood electrical fasteners that attaches things like the starter relay and ballast resistor , etc etc. But honestly can't say I've noticed if anywhere else

He definitely has a picture of it on his reference chart but it doesn't say the application. It's the first one I've ever seen like it and coincidentally, this is my first A body. Never seen one on a 69 Bbody...and I know them all by heart.

I wonder what the significance of the "copper" washer is? It is more like a copper coating or something? I think Dave at MMC Detroit is going to clear it up for me. I'll let you know.

Battery tray hold down bolt. You dont have any because they rust away and get replaced by the wrong bolt. Is the bolt head shorter than usual?
