Fan switch

Anybody using one of these for turning on your electric fan?

I've been thinking about the same thing for the 72.

I was going to add a single pole/double throw switch so I could have ON-OFF-AUTO for fan control.

My experiences with those fan switches that have a set on/off setting haven't been very good. I went through about 3 or 4 of them, some from different manufacturers and none of them when tested would turn on at their advertised setting. It was always about 5-10* higher.

I went with an adjustable unit from Derale (DER-16749) that was only about $40 and its adjustable from like 150-240* and turns off 15* lower than the turn on temp. It comes with the module, relay, and an option to wire in a kill switch.

That's a great idea and easy way to get it functional. Twice this year I made a pass and got most of the way back to my pit with the fan/pump off before the temp gauge showed the motor was overheating. The first time I forgot to turn the stupid fan on (or is it the stupid driver?). Second time I bumped the fan switch taking off my fire jacket at the end of the track and got most of the way back to my pit before the gauge went ballistic.

This deal will make a good "fail safe" for the lug nut in the driver's seat.

I use a hayden adjustable screw in coolant sensor/relay fan control. I am impressed with it, I would torch my motor without it by forgetfulness.
