Have a 38 plymouth coupe. I was wondering if anyone has bilt one useing hanging pedals. If so what pedals did you use? I have a set of 2000 Dakota pedals I was thinking of useing but not sure. I was also looking at a set from Kugelkomponents, just want to get some different ideas on how you delt with lack of floor space.

Hydraulic, I have the setup from the Dakota 5.2 5spd. Also have a Keisler hydraulic throw out kit. Car is set up for a big block, kicking around a small block 5spd. It will be a stick ether way. Dave

i met a guy recently building a 37 ply coupe,,he is using the dakota hanging pedals,,the slick thing is once you mount the pedal assembly, you now have the studs to locate the master brake cly,,and it has a bracket to mount a auto parts or O,E, clutch master and rod,,no figureing out any of the pedal/clutch master ratios its all built in,,,,so i bought a set of dakota pedal just to have around,,, all tho i did build my own system using a stock fork and external slave cylinder on nmy barracuda,, i removed the tilton hyd bearing i was using,,

I was thinking about using the pedals from the Dakota I cut up for its chassis, it is good to hear that others are using them successfully. I don't know if it would help with your 1938, but I might be able to take some good high visibility "mock up" pictures of the Dakota pedals hanging on my 1940 Dodge right now, as its missing most of the firewall. Might give you an idea if they would work for you. On my 1931 Ford Roadster, I used Ansen-styled hanging pedals which use an early 1960's Chevy truck combination brake/clutch master cylinder. It works good for me on that car, but they are single pot master for the brakes, which may bother some people.

if you want a clean fire wall,,cut the studs off the dakota pedal mount,,and weld it to the in side of the fire wall,,,then i guess you would use a under the floor master,,like in my 40

How are you using a firewall mounted pedal to work an underfloor M/C? I know that some big truck and one street rod systems uses a small firewall M/C to operate an underfloor power boosted M/C, but that seems to go against the KISS theory....
John, I believe he's not going with the underfloor stuff at all, just considering using hanging pedals to free up some room and gain the ability to use a hydraulic clutch.
The Wilwood stuff looks nice, but I'll echo what someone else in this thread said, it's nice to have common replacement parts that are available most auto places. It's no fun breaking down somewhere and having to wait for a FedEx guy to bring you parts...

ive seen the kits for hanging pedals, and under dash masters,, some are styled after dodge and chevy vans,,they used these set ups woth a bel crank but in a van it located the master under the hood facing the passenger side,, same idea,, i cant remember the name of the co doing these brackets,,ive sen them at the street rod event,,all his stuff is high priced,,but its quality stuff,,

the dakota pedals are only really a plus if you want to run a hydraulic clutch,, the clutch master mounting location is attached to the frame of the pedal assembly,,making it a piece of cake,,,you could use the pedal set up for brakes only also it beats paying a higher cost from speed way or master power,,,,or who ever,,just my 2 cents

both my hot rods have manual brakes,,my barracuda has been converted to 1973 and newer disc brakes 11 inch rotors,,and i have giant C body 11x 2 1/2 brake drums on the back, i run a 33 x 22 rear tire and the car weighs 3500 lbs stops great,, my 1940 has chevelle 11 inch rotors(changing to ford or mopar rotors) up front and mopar 10x2 or 2 1/2 cant remeber out back,,manual works fine,, if your going with a after market cam,, ask what kind of vacuum it makes,,a lot of after market performance cams dont make enough vacuum to make power brakes work properly,,just my 2 cents
