good combo depending on the rest of your set-up. 509 likes compression, stall and gear. Easy 11 second combo for an A-body 12's in a b-Body. I would NOT use it unless you have a 3200 stall and at least 3.91 gears. It is not a street cam. I doesn't start pulling hard until around 3k. I had a 509 68 383 Dart, shifted the car at 6800-7k. Ported 915 heads, torker II, 750DP, 3800 stall and 4.56's Car ran 12.0's w/ a terrible trans. Launched hard but shifts took all day. Easy 11.70's or better w/ a good trans.

I would only recommend the revised lobe center version if you insist on using it.Much better camshafts available today.Esp in a 383.

Dam man it's a mild street for real men. for all out power the 108 LSA (cam centerline) for improved idle the 114.
dual plane intake, 750 holley, headers best you can do with your heads but I ran 12.50 in my car when it was 3900 lb car and driver 10 to 1 448 cubes with just stock valves and .045 off the heads.
With the 108 LSA on a 383 I would aim at 102 intake installed max lift (intake cenerline) 101 to 103
If you want a cam that will kick but on the street from 3000 to 6000 this is the cam for you.
If you want a Honda Civic in wolves clothing like many of these girls in hear then a summit stockish cam is all you can handle!!!!!

Your comparing a 448CI with 10:1 (I'll ASSuME) 3.75" stroke? to a 383 with 3.375 stoke?

Talk about apples and oranges

It is a bad street cam unless you have a lot of compression and low gears. I had one in my Roadrunner and hated it. The car would fall on it's face when I let out the clutch. In fairness, it was exactly the wrong set-up. Replacement pistons with probably an 8ish to 1 CR and 3.23:1 gearset. I bought the car this way and ended up making changes.

my point 3-6k it works...it don't work well down low. And if you don't have compression, stall and gear it's worse. Depending on the set-up a summitt cam WILL work better.

Swingin is right. A .509 is big for a streat 383. On mine I had 10:1 compression a torker 2, holley 3310 and a 727 (3000 stall). It was COLD Blooded. It would have to warm up for a real long time for it not to stall out at stop signs. Make sure you have a good springs and an ignition that can handle higher rpm. I ran low 13's in a loaded 67 b-body at 4000 ft w/4.10s. It was a real fun set-up-but cold blooded!!
