Years ago I remember seeing a Mopar cookbook that told how to build a motor and gave the expected times out of it at the track. I know this is a loaded question but what has worked in the way of pistons, heads and cam for you? I have a matching numbers 69 Charger RT and want to go faster than the stock motor would allow but not risk too much reliability. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I'm tempted to rebuild the stock 440 back to specs and bubble wrap the damn thing. Then build another motor to drop in it's place. Thanks! TC

That is exactly what you should do,save the number matching engine and build another. The old Mopar cookbooks are ok but with todays parts, you can do better. The parts out today give you real choices that were not available when those books were written.

How fast do you want to go? Do you have a 1/4 mile time in mind?

Tim, get AndyF's new book that has all you need to know about Mopar big blocks and how to build. I'll send you a link from ebay or Amazon. I built my 470 stroker before the Hemi using one of the books for guidance.
