I have.

I went from a junk Zirgo 16" puller, to a chevy HHR fan, with built in shroud, and it seems to have helped alot. And for 65 dollars, I'd say it's the best bang for the buck as far as fans are concerned.

Look up a cooling fan for a 2007 chev HHR. Can't remember what size engine you have to specify on their site, but there's only 2 choices I believe.

No problems for me... running a MP clutch fan and HV water pump w. anti-cavitation plate slightly overdriven. Cools like a charm.

I did, two fans on two new radiators, one copper, one aluminum. I installed the MP viscous fan and fabed up a shroud, no more heating problems.

I have dual spal fans on my aluminum radiator. I bought a cheap heat switch to run the fans and I was overheating. I bypassed it to run the fans full time and no more problems.

I also helped my cooling by going to the HHR fan. However, I think that your electric WP will prob not cool as well as a belt driven one.

I use an electric and the only issue I had was when it burned up. Shortly after the switch to 16V.

I am running a 3250cfm puller, Spal fan with a remote electric water pump.

The car would idle on gas at 150-160 all day with no fan. Now 140 at an idle but I run E-85 now. Also with the conversion I had an issue with the car running at 180 with the fan going but that was fixed once a shroud was installed. My rad. lays back about 30 degrees and the air was going over and around it. Now there is a shroud directing air from the grill to the rad.

Best advice, make sure you have a good punp, 2 or 3 pass rad. and don't be afraid to build a shroud from grill to rad to direct air flow.

Everyone will have a different or better "mouse trap", I like mine, it works with no issues. I built it out of some spare sheet aluminum I had laying around.

No problems for me. I run 4 10" pullers and run them as needed. Top two are on different switches/circuits and the bottom two are on one switch. Runs 160* all day long.

My exact scenario. I hated that as you say "JUNK" zirgo. My HHR setup is one of the best things I have ever done.

Im using a dual pass rad, with dual hd spal puller fans in there al shroud, and a crs pump, one fans hooked to a stat, but both can be manual.

At 13.1 Ive never had anything close to overheating, if anything its easy to make it run too cool.

I feel the dual pass rad has alot to do with it.

Pump, rad, fans, noids, ect was about a grand, alot, but its a complete cooling system that works.

Good luck.

Just an FYI, here is a link talking about using a Jeep fan which looks to be much bigger than the HHR fan for those that have bigger radiators:

I am going to switch to that HHR fan next year. I have a stock size 26" aluminum radiator. Anybody know which part number will fit the best? Thanks for the advise.. Thanks a ton!!

Actually, the HHR fan fits a 22" rad. better.
