Will a '70 c-body jack work for a '71 e-body if you use the correct e-body hook?
What color should the hook, base, and rachet mechanism be for a '71 e-body?
TIA,
Dallas

AFAIK, yes the jack will work. As for the hook, you will need a Challenger-specific hook with the part # ending in 102. The hooks are being re-popped.

As far as color, I can't help you. I would assume black or grey. They may have come both ways.

The one in my '71 had a black mechanism & base. The hook was grey.

Make sure that it fits in the cradle, before going thru the time to paint it. A C body jack post is wider, taller and longer than an E body jack.

Hmmm. I had a '70 e-body and it had the hollow post jack, which is the type c-body one I have. Did '71s use the 't post' type shown in BJohnson's post?
Thanks for the responses,
Dallas

Here is a thread I asked some questions on about my E Body jack.
My jack hook is green And I think I may keep it that way
https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...rue#Post5559107
But may also paint it gray just to conform so others do not say hey it is green and wrong
For now it will stay green.

Interesting. My '70 Challenger 'vert also had a grey base and hook but it had the hollow tube type stand.
Thanks for the info.

They also came in black. I have had many original date coded jack assemblies over the years for E-bodies. I still have a 9M date coded XXXX101 jack assembly that was originally black & a date coded OE XXXX100 for a 71 which is gray....It depended on the supplier which color...

Another question on the jack base. What's the correct color for the 72-74 E-bodies ?

All the 72-74 cars I've seen Black only NOT Gray.

Does anyone know if ALL the bases were changed to Black for the 72-74 models ?

My dad is the origonal owner of our 73 Challenger. It has a gray base and mechanism. It also has the hollow shaft. The car was scueduled to be built in Sep 72.
