Just out of curiosity, has anybody used one of those OE adapter plates that were used to put a small block 727 behind a /6 in the '60 's ,with a 500/518. I see them every once in a while in the boneyards and wonder if they are worth getting.

Yes that has been done by a number of folks.

I made a small production runs of aluminum plates for that conversion because the OEM cast iron ones are so heavy.

I saved your pic Andy because I had a slanty with the factory 727 adapter back in the day and I thought your piece was way cooler... - RR

That is a fairly old picture! The one production batch of adapters that I made were all anodized black and came with stainless steel shields and ARP bolts. They were nice parts but they sold very slowly so I stopped making them. I think it was just too much work to put the OD tranny behind a /6.

I have one of Andy's plates. Very nice piece indeed.

Go over to www.slantsix.org and PM Dart 270. He has an A-500 in a '68 4 door Dart.
