My dad and I both run the Lofgren blanket. Fits great in both cars and there is no fricken way they would "aid" in heating a trans up. They cover the critical area of the torqueflight and they have been proven to work. I haven't talked to Chuck in a long time. It would be a bummer if he wasn't having the blankets made any longer.

Do you drive the cars on the street? Just curious because I plan on using one and am worried it'll keep too much heat in the trans.

Lofgren isn't producing them anymore. I phoned this summer, and was told they quit selling them.

The CSR shield is nice, but is very tight to the trans tunnel in the firewall area. I gave up trying to get it to fit for now. you also have to cut off the "ears" on the front of the trams bellhousing along with the boss that holds the piviot rod on the three piece kickdown.

The CSR carbon shield is nice but a total nightmare to install in a 73 DartSport a few years ago. On my current car I went with an SFI approved JW Ultrabell on my 727 and a Lofgren blanket, very easy to install.

I originally had a blanket but on the street it was a big pain keeping the straps off of the headers, you had to have the middle one just right so it did not interfere with the shifter arm (turbo action). I went to a CSR shield, you have to trim the transmission tabs but in my 67 Coronet there were no tunnel modifications needed.

This should be taken into consideration.

Never woulda beleived the blanket would take that kind of explosion with that little damage on the blanket. WOW.
Sure makes me feel a lot better in having a blanket on mine now.

question...on some of those explosions, how many are using stock componants...like drums, sprags, pumps, etc...

I use the CSR shield but my trans that was built by CRT also has all the beefed up race componants..theres nothing left stock except the case..
