How does one tell the difference between the old style and new edelbrock MP aluminum hemi heads. I can tell the difference by looking at them in person but is there a part number difference. Is there anything stamped on the head to indicate different part???
In God we trust, all others pay cash.

From what I've heard, the Edelbrock heads are a much nicer casting and are a little thicker to allow slightly more flow after porting. CHIP

I have a newer set with the M2 number. There is also the Letter stamped "E" on the head kinda sideways. It looks like the letter used on Edelbrock products..well kinda. I have a bunch of pics, and with a MCH CNC port program they will break the 460cfm mark...

Hi hemi folks, I have now got an NOS 2531110M and a NOS 2531110-M2 'side by side' and they are very similar except... A much better exhaust PORT in the Edelbrock M2 head! To let the Flames OUT!!!

Wow! Talk about scratching an old thread. I wonder what happened to Bob Coomer? He hasn't been around since 2017.

Wow! Talk about scratching an old thread. I wonder what happened to Bob Coomer? He hasn't been around since 2017. I always wondered what happened to the '65 Belvedere he was building. He had it just about finished, then dropped off. When he came back on, had a B-1 Duster he was putting together.

Oops I was doing some correspondence with Zippy to get another head and picked this very old thread by error! The M2 head is a much better casting and has a revised exhaust port. Most of the newer design hemi heads are “all about the exhaust issues”. Obviously when the original head and ports were ‘canted over’ for passenger car fitment, it reduced flow... Now the M2 head is ‘way out’ of production, it’s a worry indeed! Lots of folks need one or two M2’s for their current builds... Edelbrocks themselves are in a big moving scenario and deny even casting the M2’s... But a very nice man did email me to say, they will be available soon? How did he know this if they don’t actually make them lol?

My MP heads are from the early/mid 2000s and haven't had any seat issues.
The Edelbrock castings that replaced the MP heads have an "E" cast into them on top of the head. They don't say "Edelbrock" on them, just have the Edelbrock font "E" on them. I have a pair of them in the shop...if anyone wants a pic, I can get you one. Once Edelbrock came out w/ their own heads, they have the full "Edelbrock" cast onto them. That's a whole different head though.
