Some of you might remember the post from a couple months back, bought my kid a 66 Coronet, propane powered. Well we raced it a few times to get some baselines and some seat time for him, best et 12.45. Then off came the propane set-up, slapped some source heads on it, a street dominator intake and a mystery carb that was laying around the shop. I can honestly say he did 90% of the wrenching and painting, under my watchful eye. Last Sunday was the first time out with the new combo, granted we had great air best run of the day 11.58!! He was grinnin ear to ear! pics to follow.

I agree. An improvment all around.

Sounds like the changeover was well worth the effort--does my heart good to see a father/son team effort!

I figured it would pick up by changing over to gas but I was shocked with the 11.50, When we pulled the old heads and saw how far down in the hole bout .160 It probably isnt even 9:1 , no high priced race fuel here! Next project is body work and paint.

To be clear, are you saying the propane was the problem? Seems like a few of your other mods contributed to your improvement. And anything with 9:1 or less on propane is a huge mistake in the first place IMO.

Are you selling the working Propane set-up?

Regardless, working with kid is really great to hear about.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

There was no problem with the propane, it had been on the car for close to 15 years by the previous, now deceased owner. My kid is 16 and just couldnt get to stoked about a car with a habachi hood scoop that smelled like a tail-gate party when you fired it up!

I sorta like the hood scoop... gives you a handle to
lift off the hood(if it was a lift off one)
nice job

Do you still have all the stuff you pulled off? What did you do with it? Did you want to get rid of it?

Curious to know what sort of LP tank it was using.

Considering putting dual-fuel on my SSP.
